Clever by BICE was a 100% digital investment platform that let users build savings through mutual funds without minimum amounts. I worked as UI Frontend Developer during the product’s active development phase, bridging design and engineering and filling a critical gap in the mobile team.
QA Bridge
Design and dev were moving at different speeds and things were slipping through the cracks. I ran weekly QA sessions between both teams, reviewing implementation against design specs and catching discrepancies before they piled up across sprints. Things moved faster once we had a consistent check-in rhythm.
iOS App Foundation
At a critical point in the project, the mobile team had no iOS developer. I stepped in to build the foundational app structure, despite it being my first professional iOS experience. I wasn’t meant to own it long-term, just get things moving until the right person joined.
Learnings
Build to unblock, but build it right. The SwiftUI foundation I built to unblock the team was never rewritten. It shipped as-is. The iOS developer who joined later didn’t know SwiftUI, so I ended up teaching him the same screens I’d built. What starts as a stopgap can become the real thing. Build it like it might stay.
