Inconsistency
For those who didn’t know, I’m back in CHILE and I think it’s a good time to get back to writing — technically in Spanish since this post is mostly just a quick update, short and informative.
About 5 years ago I installed UBUNTU on a Notebook that was lying around the house, you know, to turn it into a media center — and the best option for that has always been Ubuntu.
As always, installs are pretty straight forward, no drama, well… except that it didn’t recognize the WIFI, like the driver.

Yeah, a lot later.
So, today was finally the day. After spending 6 hours fighting with GRUB installation issues I realized the problem wasn’t the Linux distro — talking about the wifi — and I discovered that it’s a total pain in the ass to sort that out. I think it’s worth leaving you the link to the solution:

If you’re installing from a USB like I did and you don’t have access to the drive, you’ll need to decompress the ISO to get to the famous B43 and copy it to the computer. Other than that, you shouldn’t have any issues.

Life update
As you may know, I’m a graphic (UI) designer and one of my favorite tools is SKETCH. Besides using it constantly, I’m always trying to get people to switch to it because it makes your life so much easier. A week ago I realized there’s no official group in Chile even though I’ve seen several job listings that require experience in Sketch, so some friends and I decided to create SKETCHCHILE. This week we’ll meet for the first time to figure out how to tackle this new challenge. Hopefully in the next post I can tell you more and invite you to participate.

Para los que no sabían estoy de vuelta en CHILE y creo que es un buen momento para retomar la escritura en español, técnicamente porque este post es mas que nada un Update, rápido e informativo.
Hace unos 5 años le instale UBUNTU a un Notebook que andaba dando vueltas por la casa, ya saben para convertirlo en centro multimedia y la mejor opción siempre es Ubuntu.
Como siempre las instalaciones son pretty straight forward, ni un drama, bueno además de que no reconoció el WIFI, onda el driver.

Bueno, hoy fue el día, después de estar 6 horas luchando con problemas de instalacion del GRUB me di cuenta que el problema no era la distro de linux, hablando del wifi, y descubrí que es un puto cacho poder solucionar el tema, y creo que sería una buena idea dejarles el enlace a la solución:

Si estan instalando desde un USB como lo hice yo y no tienen acceso al pendrive van a tener que descomprimir la ISO para poder acceder al famoso B43 y pasarlo al dicho computador, además de eso no deberán tener ningun problema.

Como sabrán soy diseñador gráfico (UI) y una de mis herramientas favoritas es SKETCH y además de usarla siempre estoy tratando de hacer que gente se cambie a esta app, ya que te hace la vida mucho mas fácil, y hace una semana cache que no hay ningun grupo oficial en chile a pesar de que he visto varias ofertas laborales donde piden tener experiencia en Sketch, asi que con unos amigos decidimos formar SKETCHCHILE, esta semana nos juntaremos para hacer la primera reunión y ver como abordamos este nuevo desafío, espero en la siguiente entrada poder contarles mas e invitarlos a participar.

몰랐던 분들을 위해, 저는 칠레로 돌아왔어요. 글쓰기를 다시 시작하기 좋은 때라고 생각해요 — 기술적으로는 이게 주로 빠른 업데이트, 짧고 간결한 내용이니까요.
약 5년 전에 집에 굴러다니던 노트북에 UBUNTU를 설치했어요. 아시다시피, 미디어 센터로 만들려고 — 그 용도로는 항상 Ubuntu가 최선이죠.
언제나처럼 설치는 pretty straight forward, 드라마 없이요. 뭐… WIFI를 인식 못 했지만, 드라이버 문제로요.

네, 훨씬 나중에.
그래서, 오늘 드디어 그날이 왔어요. GRUB 설치 문제와 6시간 싸운 끝에 문제가 Linux 배포판이 아니었다는 걸 깨달았어요 — wifi 얘기에요 — 그리고 그걸 해결하는 게 진짜 골치 아프다는 걸 발견했어요. 해결책 링크를 남겨두는 게 좋을 것 같아요:

저처럼 USB에서 설치하고 드라이브에 접근할 수 없다면, ISO를 압축 해제해서 유명한 B43에 접근하고 컴퓨터에 복사해야 해요. 그 외에는 문제가 없어야 해요.
지금은 백업된 파일을 노트북에 다시 복사하는 걸 즐기고 있어요

아시다시피, 저는 그래픽 (UI) 디자이너이고 제가 제일 좋아하는 도구 중 하나는 SKETCH예요. 항상 사용하는 것 외에도, 삶을 훨씬 편하게 만들어주니까 다른 사람들이 갈아타게 하려고 노력하고 있어요. 일주일 전에 Sketch 경험을 요구하는 구인 공고를 여러 번 봤음에도 칠레에는 공식 그룹이 없다는 걸 알았어요. 그래서 친구들과 함께 SKETCHCHILE를 만들기로 했어요. 이번 주에 처음으로 만나서 이 새로운 도전을 어떻게 이어갈지 이야기할 거예요. 다음 포스트에서 더 많이 전하고 참여를 초대할 수 있길 바라요.
一貫性のなさ
知らなかった人のために言うと、チリに戻ってきました。スペイン語で書き直すいい機会だと思っています。まあ技術的には、このポストはただの短いアップデートなんですけどね。
5年ほど前、家に転がっていたNotebookにUBUNTUを入れたんですよ。ご存知の通り、メディアセンターにするために。そのための一番いい選択肢はいつもUbuntuですよね。
インストール自体は_pretty straight forward_で、特に問題はなかったんですが、まあWIFIを認識しなかったんですよね。ドライバーの問題で。
あとで直せばいいや
ずっとそのままでした。
で、_今日_がその日でした。GRUBのインストール問題と6時間格闘した後に、問題はLinuxのディストリビューションじゃなくてWiFiだったと気づいて、解決するのが本当に面倒くさいということもわかりました。解決策へのリンクを残しておくのが一番いいと思います：

私みたいにUSBからインストールしていてペンドライブにアクセスできない場合は、ISOを展開して有名なB43ファイルにアクセスし、それをコンピューターにコピーする必要があります。それ以外は特に問題ないはずです。
